The Lawson Clock Story. Information on these fascinating clocks that you won't find elsewhere. Click here for Part I; Click here for Part II; Click here for Part III. Click here for a comparison of pre- and post World War II Lawson clocks. I recently added even more models to the gallery!
Welcome to the new and greatly expanded Decopix site. This new revision contains
over 700 images, taken during the past 35 years. The photos are organized into galleries
by subject matter. Due to the size of the galleries, they can take a minute to load but I think
you'll find it
worth the wait.

More Art Deco houses plus other photos from my trip to Buffalo, Toronto and Montreal this past October.

Decopix on TV! My photos of John Warner Norton's spectacular and long lost mural for the Chicago Daily News were featured on WTTW TVs Chicago Tonight program. Watch the segment here.
Recently added: More Lawson clock models, including an unusual model 22 "treasure chest" clock which sold for a considerable amount despite not having it's original wheels and motor. Also, a very early model 97 and a beautifully restored model 101. The gallery's here.

A quick update.

The World Congress on Art Deco in Havana was great fun and it was terrific to see some old friends, however briefly. I returned home via Mexico City which also has extraordinary Art Deco architecture. I'm working on a series of articles for the new Decopix blog which should be up within the next few weeks. In the meantime, I've posted a few of the photos to
Flickr.

A word about the Decopix blog, or lack thereof. It has taken me some time to figure out the right approach, but expect big changes in the blog starting in April. I'm also going to try (but not promise) the make the photos on this site searchable.

I did an article on infrared photography for
the Jan/Feb issue of Photo Technique magazine. The
house on the cover is obviously not in the Deco style
(hey everybody needs a little variety, once in a while)
but there's a Deco house in the article, along with a
step-by-step description of how the photos are done.
The Photo Technique website is
here.
