Decopix Patent of the Week – Art Deco Radio by J.I. Silver

J.I.-Silver-radio-patent

You have to wonder if James I. Silver of Chicago, who patented this design in 1937, was aware of the Ekco radios designed by Welles Coates in the early 1930s.

Well, the world of 1937 was not as connected as today’s and in any event, I can’t find anything on Mr. Silver so we’ll probably never know. Either way, for it’s attractive, simple and streamlined design this radio cabinet is the Decopix patent of the week.
